Vikings finally close file on great Jackson experiment

The team took another step toward severing ties with Tarvaris Jackson after five often turbulent seasons Thursday by electing not to use a restricted free-agent tender on the quarterback.

You know it's kinda funny, this whole T-Jax thing. Even if he was a good QB (which he is obviously not) he doesn't stay healthy for it to even matter. IDK why anyone but an arena or Canadian league team would bother looking at him. It's about time he was let go.

Finally...the T Jack era ends.

Please vikings, by all means take another five years before you figure out that Joe Webb is not a starting QB in this league - signed the Bears, Packers and Lions!!!

Alas, poor Tarvaris, we hardly knew ye. Without doubt, the stupidest move Chilly ever made. All his eggs in one basket. I always thought, coming from the Eagles, that Chilly saw in T-Jack another Donovan McNabb. Coulda been, but weren't, and the rest goes down in history. Had TJ panned out, there never would have been a move for Favre. No move for Favre (one last good year followed by an awful one) and the Vikes wouldn't be scrambling for a QB yet today. Bottom line: The cupboard is bare.

In a way, I kinda feel sorry for T-Jack. He seemed like a good guy, and it wasn't his fault that Chili treated him like a lab experiment (an unsucessful one, at that). I bet the poor guy wishes he stayed at WR. I wish him well.

Unfortunately, Rhett Bomar is probably out as well before we can see his stuff. The Vikings will draft a second tier QB and also sign a veteran. My guesses are either Orton or Vince Young..

Glad they signed Robison since it would have been bad to lose both him and Ray Edwards (who presumably will go elsewhere). T-Jack leaving was a foregone conclusion, obviously.

Not to defend Jackson, but when you are in your first year as a starter and your wideouts are Bobby Wade and Troy Williamson, I think any QB would have had trouble succeeding. Although it is a much lower profile move, I am pleased to see the Vikes are finally giving up on Albert Young. To me, his was always a waste of a roster space. Ineffective as a runner, receiver, or in the return game. Throw in the fact he was unable to so much as pick up a blitz, and this is certainly another of Chidress' pet projects that completely failed to pan out.

It wasn't TJack's fault...No other team in the entire NFL intended on drafting and making his a starter. Just another blunder from Chilly- Thank god he's gone!
