After deciding it had the players it wanted for the stretch run and passing on any major trades, the Wild slumbered through a devastating second period in a loss to the surging Blackhawks.

Wild = Fools Gold and Chuck but a dump truck full! We were never contenders for the cup and a good GM would have sold our UFA's and made the tough choices. Now we will see this team out-classed and a repeat of the DR path of getting nothing for our UFA's. And when the prices were so high, sellers were making a killing... and that should have been the Wild doing what Florida did.... Foolish Fletch, I expected better.

Is this the beginning of the end of the Wild Playoff Run. Also, if you GM doesn't make a trade to improve the team prior to the deadline, does this mean he is clueless, golfing, or satisfied with a team that lacks scoring and will struggle to make the final playoff spot. Perhaps I should not be too dismayed by Fletchers lack of doing anything as he gave up a good young Minnesota boy in Nick Leddy for Ma Barker. Fletcher got taken to the cleaners with that trade.

Nick Leddy really played a good game and in front of the home crowd even, the stress did not get to him, imagine that. Tom Reid after the game said the Wild really fought hard in that third period, could it have been that the Hawks played last night and the game went in overtime. The Wild lacked discipline and they made several risky plays throughout the game "and that is all the people needed to know" Author baron von raschke

The good news is the Wild have two of the 3 games just like tonight against teams that played the night before and on Wednesday night they play the rotten Islanders so we should manage a Win in that game

While I wish Fletcher would have made a move, the reality is that none out there were "the answer". This is the same average team we've seen for a long time. They'll work hard and finish 9th to 12th and we'll get another mediocre prospect via draft. And that my friends produces absolutely nothing! If this organization cannot attract top-end talent via free agency (which history shows they can't), they are better off bottoming out. This is LOSERVILLE, USA!!!

Did anyone really think they had a legit shot at the Cup? They don't have the talent of a Toews, Cane, Hossa line - not by a mile. They're also out Koivu and Dress, so it will be lucky if they even squeak into the playoffs. Meanwhile, Fletcher is stocking the cupboard with goal scorers.

FreakJeff, Lattendress is never a for sure thing but Fletch does have him in a good position to have a great year next because its his last year of his contract. Koivou would be nice to have in there but he is not the same player anymore

For those that missed it TSN ripped the Wild for fence sitting. Either make a move to give yourself a legit shot or dump your UFA's for FIVE picks and use them to make trades to add that scorer and/or start rebuilding what DR destroyed. Instead, we have this team that was never a cup contender and will remain mediocore for years to come. More $2m a year checkers coming to replace the four leaving... Burns probably looking for $5m+ (which is too much) and this team will continue to struggle...
