Amazingly, a Wild point to be had

Center Matt Cullen called it a "character point" as the Wild hopped from 10th place to seventh in the Western Conference despite the shootout loss.

Bertuzzi is the Wild's nemesis, not Detroit. It goes back to when he was with the Canucks, during the playoff series, fueled further when he was with the Ducks in a playoff series with the Wild then as well.

This is a travesty seeing as how Bertuzzi should have received a lifetime ban after ending Steve Moores career. Bertuzzi should NOT have been on the ice today to be in a position to participate in the shootout. Additionally, I find it bothersome that Marc Crawford is still allowed to coach in the league, and find it even more distasteful that he is coaching the Dallas NorthStars. He should be out as well. I enjoy a hard hitting tilt if it is played cleanly and with some respect for the opponent, but that incident hardly met those criteria. I hope Bertuzzi's name NEVER makes it onto the Stanley Cup.

That was a pretty much in-your-face Wild moment when Bertuzzi scored on the shootout. I mean, come-on Wild fans, grow-up, and move on beyond 2003! Its embarassing after all of these years.

Backs played a great game today. I knew it was over once it went to the shootout. Maybe we would be better off taking Theodore off the bench to come in, even if he is cold he couldnt do any worse. I dont understand why Backs has such a tough time, especially when he is steller in the game. Even a breakaway during the game, I am pretty confident Backs will shut them down. We got a point, thats big! Good game boys!

sure is nice how other teams have already made plenty moves and we sit on our azz with another mediocre team and do nothing. Go Twins because they are the only thing close to a championship organization.

Good game by the Wild to tie the Red Wings in regulation. I hate the Red Wings, but they are a good team and tough to beat. I hope they take this as a sign that they can continue to win while Koivu is out. Let's beat Edmonton and get two more points on Tuesday! Go Wild!

Not a lot of talent on Wild. But quite an impressive effort by Wild v. a top tier club in Red Wings. As a hockey fan one appreciates how Wild have maximized effort from average talent. Backstrom seems to have to stop 30+ shots if Wild are to be in games late in the 3rd. He held them in again today. Wild fans have some hope for the future with a 65 minute effort such as todays.

Jon, I love the Neal for Zids trade, but I don't think it'll happen. Dallas would ask at least for some draft picks or some prospects thrown in. (Neal has another year on contract and will be a restricted free agent, so the team retains his rights.) Also, there are other great D on the market. Sheldon Sourey will be shopped by Edmonton next week, for example. But, you never know. If Dallas made the offer, I'm sure Fletch would take. It'd be awesome if they did!

The Wild still needs a top-flight scorer to make and advance in the NHL playoffs. Lidstrom scored his 17th goal for Detroit and he's a 40-year-old defenseman! Minnesota lacks talent on offense -- but is a solid all-around team. Not good enough to do much in the postseason, though. Decent game against a quality Red Wings squad. Let's hope Latendresse can add some scoring when he gets back. The Wild are a lot like the Twins and will NOT make a trade to improved the team EVER...
