Just remember folks that Mpls politics has been dominated by the DFL for the past 50 years. Hennepin county the same. Want someone to blame. It's staring right at you.

PUT THE BLAME WHERE IT BELONGS....IN THE LAP OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL....THEY ALL HAVE NOT ONLY CONTRIBUTED BUT HAVE CAUSED THIS STATE OF DECLINE.....ESPECIALLY THE MAYOR.

A group of SW Mpls neighbors has started a facebook group to discuss this topic. It is clear that LGA and pension funds are not the only problem. Minneapolis currently spends significantly more per capita than neighboring cities on city employee wages. The retail tax base where we shop has relocated to 1st ring suburbs due to anti-growth planning and zoning practices in the city. Our overhead is too high, and our tax base needs to grow. We need a sustainable plan. Please join us/friend us and help present a united front to our leaders: http://www.facebook.com/#!/home.php?sk=group_131432686923565

In less than eight and a half years, my property taxes in MPLS ballooned from $1800 to nearly $5000. Interestingly, during the same time period the value of my property, according to the county, has dropped from $328,000 to $228,000. This isn't sustainable.

Cry me a river! You people complain about your taxes and you elect Democrats that campaign on raising the taxes. Haven't you figured out yet that what they say they are going to do to the rich is what they are going to do to you? You urban dwellers wanted it stuck to the rich and you are getting it stuck to you. When are you going to stop voting DFL? When you are taxed out of your home? Or will you still be voting for them when you are living in a cradboard box in a park somewhere? You guys are getting what you deserve as far as I am concerned.

the problems for both Minneapolis and St Paul started with a Republican governor who ran on the promise of sucking every possible dime out of the cities and feeding it back into already overfed suburbs, and he did just that

Centerpoint Energy's rigid tiered natural gas rate system has resulted in many huge natural gas bills for Minneapolis which has a lot of older and larger houses. Anyone considering purchasing a Minneapolis home will research the winter natural gas costs under the rigid tiered pricing scheme.

DECADES OF DFL GENEROSITY, some of the highest welfare benefits in the country. Welcoming Illegals with "Sanctuary Status"! Top pay for city workers! Pension benefits unequaled elsewhere in the state! A top heavy city council, double what a city of this size needs or can afford. One could go on and on about DFL generosity in good times, with other people’s money, but crying the blues when reality sets in, in bad times. Makes it tough to assign blame for the politicians in a one party, Socialist system, as is Minneapolis. Vote DFL, suffer DFL!

Between massive pension and health care obligations as all of those boomer state employees that are going to retire, and the prospects of paying for yet another sports stadium, this state has to face up to the fact that the taxes are going to start driving people out of here. Minnesota is going to be unaffordable.
