I think that Congress, and Judges, have made Health Care reform more "complex" than it needs to be. It all comes down to being "a little too friendly" with the Insurance companies. They can afford to pay their executives large salaries and bonuses. Not to mention that a lot of our premiums dollars are "wasted" on all the lobbying and court challenges. After about a year of watching this Health Care reform circus, I think that they should just DROP the mandate that everyone purchase "private" insurance, and ADD a "public" option instead. Problem Solved!

gwbuddy, that would be the sensible course. The only pleasure to be taken in having to waste resources in hashing all of this out again is the prospect of the Koch brothers and their cronies ponying up millions to lobby against a common sense public option solution. While most of that will be in propaganda campaigns, some will - in good Reaganomic fashion - trickle down to the real working people: the secretaries and assistants at the PR firms, the wages of the charter bus drivers who haul the sheep to the orchestrated anti-everything rallies, wages & tips to the waitstaff at the DC dining emporiums, etc. If that is how they want to redistribute some of the wealth, let them... For the rest of us, until the majority wake up to the fact that they and their parents have been conned into thinking that any business exec has their best interests at heart, as they have been for the past 55 years, nothing will change for the better.

Scalia, Thomas, Roberts and Alito are not 5. They are only 4. The remaining 5 Justices have thoughtful voting records, and will see that paying into a health care risk pool is not different than paying into a Medicare or Social Security pool. Those who cannot afford their premiums, are too young to have jobs or already disabled are accounted for in a risk pool of EVERYONE. These folks will pay according to their ability or will be allowed to join elsewhere. Nevertheless, it is a small thing to ask each person to contribute to their health care in return for specific benefits enforceable by law...............It is as Constitutional as Medicare or Social Security withholding............................Let's get started implementing the changes the country needs. PHARMA will not get a free pass either,as formularies are developed. Fee-for-service will get less profitable and care more efficient when physicals, immunizations and preventative care for chronically ill citizens is put into managed care and removed from emergency rooms. Digitizing and making portable patient records will end many medicine interaction problems and promote best practices with access to treatment data efficiencies.

That's what you get when you let the health insurance lobbyists help write the New Federal Health Insurance Bill.

"...That's what you get when you let the health insurance lobbyists help write the New Federal Health Insurance Bill....", and PHARMA, and the AMA, and the rest of the "vested" parties. The only vested group underrepresented was the majority, who wanted single-payer........This was the only way to keep insurance, medical facilities and drug companies privately owned.........Funny, the right calls it "socialism", but it really is an attempt to keep the profit motive in health care.
