I hope someday before I die, I can get to Chicago in a couple hours to visit my family, and be able to cheaply and efficiently visit them on a moment's notice, several times a year....

I could see nudging up the speed of present Amtrak trains. They're slower than cars now. I looked at taking Amtrak to Salt Lake City last year but it wasn't practical. It's quicker to drive.

Cancellation - a great mercy. We already have buses, Amtrak and air lines.

Well, folks, high speed trains will cost a LOT of money. Having said this, I find it quite interesting that Japan has had a 160mph train since 1964; that France now has one that will go 325mph and so does China. Somehow, some way, we need to make high speed trains happen. My wife and I travel by train whenever we can. It's delightful!

Thanks for turning down federal dolars (do those grow on trees?) met Council took fedral money for the choo coo and now looses $17 per ticket in operating costs. We cant afford the choo choos in tis sparsley occupied area.

I actually support high speed rail, but "committing $1.2 million to plan possible routes"???? You've got to be kidding me. How is this even possible?
