Injury shouldn't sideline Hoffarber

Blake Hoffarber's injured left knee shouldn't keep the Gophers senior out of the lineup. But coach Tubby Smith was less certain whether the injury would limit Hoffarber's workload

Keep this lineup and they'll not win again... sigh. Not many options. Tubby??

The season's more then half over, the 3 are no longer freshmen. Tubby seems to indicate none of the 3 are point guards, well they are'nt shooting guards, so what position did he recruit them for? He already has Williams as a dunk only player, why recruit such limited players. Pick one and give him some playing time at the point.

Couldn't have said it any better podman64. But we need to wait until it's Tubby's idea, because he knows all and sees all. My pick? Play Armelin, the guy has a chance to be a stud. No fear - the anti Williams.

i think the tall timbers have got to step up their game..... ALL of THEM

Blake is not a point guard. You need to keep him at SG, Tubby. Go with the Frosh and let it ride. Your squad will barely slide into the Tourney regardless so let the kids play. Its amazing the team has only 8 scholarship kids left.

All 5 of the comments above are right if we could just get Tubby to grasp these concepts........great guy, but it would sure be nice to see him on the same page. The opposing coaches have figured it out - just look at how they have been attacking the gophers. You don't get weeks or months to figure this stuff out - usually a coach has about a minute or two in a game to adjust or it is over.

Play anybody who doesn't look like they're dozing off when they don't have the ball. I recall a game at Wisconsin years ago when Clem was the coach. As the Minnesota came out for the warmups, Badger fans booed and hissed and shouted their lungs out. Randy Carter raised his arms and taunted them to yell louder, smiling and flashing that big gold tooth. The Gophers proceeded to kick Wisconsin's butt by about 40 points that night. Sorry, but I miss Clem.

A couple of interesting points: First, the only players in the news the past few weeks have been Hoffarber and Nolen - two guys Monson handed to Orlando "I did not offer him a job" Smith; and second, Orlando has no Freshmen (or Sophomore) recruits of his own to step into the black hole created by Nolen, Joseph, Iverson, Williams, and so on.

Who cares, it's basketball.

I just have to wonder if the leg injuries we're seeing in basketball (Hoffarber, Nolen, Hummel, et al) are being caused by the ridiculous, bloated trunks that came into style a few years ago. Next we'll see head injuries in baseball because players will start wearing those comical wide-brimmed caps cocked over to the side. Do I dare even speculate about football players with trousers a'draggin'. Some bad styles in style these days!
