City data seem to bear out idea that seeing more bikers leads drivers to watch for them.

The more I bike, the safer I'm trying to be. I won't bike through red stop lights, and I signal every turn. Hopefully more bicyclists are choosing to be safe, and follow the rules of the road.

Maybe they have finnaly learned to stay out of the way, of car's and trucks, or they get ran over.

Amen, Meller. I do the same when I'm riding to work--it just ain't worth it to get creamed while running through a red light. Plus I like to think I'm a good example to other bikers. Hopefully more drivers are choosing to be safe too and follow the rules of the road. Set a good example and use your signal, no matter what your mode of transportation is! Start a trend!

Government worker logic: If "A" is true, and "B" is true, then "A" caused "B". And they get paid for this crap!

As soon as the riders start to obey ANY of the traffic laws the rate will really decline. Good luck to you and please keep riding I need you to save some gas for my suburban.

IMO, a recent advance in bicycling safety are those bright blinking LEDs. They are easier to miss if you can see them!

We've all heard the stereotypes that bike riders disobey all the laws, and I'm sure every driver is perfect, goes under the speed limit at all times, full-stops... blah blah blah... The truth is, if more Americans biked when they needed to go on short trips, they probably wouldn't need over-sized vehicles to haul their obese, sedentary bodies around.
