Mr Dalton was one of the great influences in my young life. I have thought of him frequently over the years and am pleased to see that my experience wasn't unique.

I had Mr. Dalton in 5th grade and LOVED him. Wonderful, wonderful teacher. I'm so glad to have seen this story-brought back great memories of his classroom.

Wonderful! This story is a great start to my week (as a teacher!). I know some may comment that this isn't news, but many will agree with me that this human-interest story is exactly the news we want to read. Thanks for this article, Strib.

What a sweet tribute to my dad! THANKS, Gail Rosenblum for your story, and Ann Hinrich for reaching out and re-connecting with "Mr. D." I am, and will be, forever grateful to have such an amazing dad, mentor and golf buddy.

Amazing. Beleive it or not I thought about Mr. Dalton this morning, before I read the article. I ran across one of those "Secret Questions" I did quite awhile ago. Question? Favorite teacher - Answer - always, Mr. Dalton. I was in the class of 1965. I was too skinny, had buck teeth and glasses. He treated me as a princess. He did more for me than he could ever realize. Thank you Mr. Dalton!

I'm 48 years old and I used to be at the same church as Mr Dalton. He and his wife were friends of our parents. This article speaks about characteristics we saw from him even though we were not his students. He is a very caring man and always so fun and with a big smile on his face. His wife was the same too! As a teacher, I can only hope that I might have a fraction of the positive influence Mr Dalton had on students. Mr. Dalton probably isn't in Who's Who, and has probably never had a medal for teaching pinned on his chest, but he would feel profoundly grateful that he has meant so much to so many kids. He is a person who makes me proud to be a member of the human race.
