For Ralph Sampson III, Austin Hollins and Saul Smith, their famous fathers might have passed along basketball genes, but all three found their own identities on the floor.

Great article about very good families and athletes. Tubby went down and stole Hollins from Kentucky, Louisville and other teams. Tubby needs to keep recruiting good solid palyers like this for the long-trm.

since saul is tubby's son, his nickname should be "fatty".

2/21/08 was the last victory over a Michigan team, since then, what? I think Tubby is 1-9 against Michigan & Michigan State since then? This is what I try to forget about Tubby Smith.

glenlivet - Don't watch the games or support the program then....it's pretty simple. If you have a problem don't watch. Something must intrigue you if you continue to come on here and post stuff about this team. If you want to resort back to the Monson days go ahead, but Tubby has brought this program back to respectability and back to back NCAA tourny appearances. Yes they lost in the 1st round but at least he is bringing us to the tourny which only 68 teams now get in in the entire nation. Stop your whining!

Lionel Hollins learned Academic and his NBA Basketball skills playing and graduating from Arizona State University. Your Column on Famous Fathers of U of M current players failed to mention this. Go Devils!

@pauprobst But then he would also have to mention that Arizona St was/is a notorious party school. Kinda balances out its "famous" academic reputation.

Austin Hollins wasn't the only son with a love for the game. Tubby signed his brother Andre, a ESPN Top 100 recruit to play for the gophers next year.

Andre Hollins also has a 4.6 GPA,(I don't know how GPA's work in Tennessee), but he is smart and disciplined so we shouldn't have to worry about off the court trouble.
