Fun to watch the republicans sweat out a minor fee increase; long over-due. As the guide says, protect the resource...ot it won't be there. Huge bass boats, power pickups, gear galore, restaurant and bar tabs....and these guys whine about a fee increase to get us competative and protect the fishing, hunting and natural resources. Shoreland development, Aquatic Invasive Species fouling the water, pollution...lost of issues that need attention and $$$. Pay me now or.......

I guess I dont see the tough sell? A $5 increase is a gallon of gas, pack of butts, a drink at a bar, a shad rap. We want to continue our reputation as an outdoors state. I dont mind an increase. Dont like it? sell your boat, guns, and fishing tackle and move to the city.

I agree with fishroger. This should not be a big deal at all. $5 more for a year's worth of use? Come on. Just make damn sure the increase in fee money GOES WHERE IT IS INTENDED. That's all we ask.

If the money is used for the in the field work and workers I'm all for it.If it goes to give the upper admin. a pay raise then I'm not.

Hey Jackpinesav, where does it say anything about us bass boat owners with gear galore whining about a license fee increase? I think they should jack it at least $10 more.

ok all you geniuses...(dnr, legislature, and strib writers...) do the math before getting everyone riled up...someone take the # of licenses sold X $5...=? a pittance, a drop in the bucket of the dnrs budget...an algebra question...how many fisheries managers salaries will that pay? Another, how many years of dnr slackers pensions will that pay?

# of fishing licenses sold in 2008-1.4 million x $5. A pittance? I think you can do the math. That could fund a lot of good projects. You sound bitter? Maybe a CO nabbed you with too many fish?

"Even if the measure was passed in 2011, new revenue wouldn't flow to the DNR until 2013 -- close to the date when the fund could dip into the red." How does that happen? They know how much they have to spend and they just continue to over spend. Now they want more money to make up for the FACT that they spend MORE that they receive. Time for another bake sale I guess, or the DNR equivalent, a logging sale. Rape the forest and call it good for the environment…What a joke. Don’t give me the BS about doing what forest fires used to either, I’m not buying it.

Year round terrific fishing for $17! We can and should pay more. It's a value at twice that.
