The real-life melodrama here i summed up byb two thoughts:forgiveness, if sincere can be stress relieving, and your partner has to work with this person. True friends accept each other's flaws; and, your partner needs support in empathy of his work status. You don't have to be BFFs; but civility can make everyone's life a tad better. That's how adults handle situations; without the cancer of bitterness.
