Folks, give credit to the Big Ten for figuring out what the problem at U of Minn is. There are no Leaders and apparently there will be no future leaders. We had some, 50 years ago, but with that kind of lapsed time I guess you could call them Legends. In another 50 years I wonder if they will be called antiques (I won't be around to find out). big

Who's daughter in law's fluffy PR firm got a $1.5-2.0MM to come up with this? If they were going this route why not the Pansy and the Petunia Division? Teddy Bears & Beenie Babies or Chiffon and the Sateen Division. This is beyond embarrassing. But this is the Big 10 ... with 12 teams.

How stupid can this be? They should have divided up the conference along geographic lines, called the divisions East and West and saved a few bucks on travel for most contests. Instead, they try and engineer things based on current strenghts in a couple of sports, over think the whole thing and then come up with dumb names. What do you expect from an organization that calls itself the Big 10 and has 12 teams in it?

The Coach of the Year award will be called the Schembechler - Hayes award. Why? The two had 3 national championships, but Bernie Bierman (5) had more by himself than Hayes and Schembechler combined. Somehow or another the Bierman name should be on an award.

INCREDIBLY LAME! Everything about it....the logo is ugly and not really pertinent, the division names remind me of what the NHL had for a while and scrapped, and the trophys & year-end honors are too diluted. I like Tony Dungy but he did nothing remarkable in the Big Ten to warrant something being named for him when Bobby Bell and Sandy Stephens do not. This is all so over-done, it makes me think it will be changed once someone figures out they're not making money on it.

Too many awards and two stupid names for a conference that takes itself too seriously.
