Many candidates were interviewed, but Joel Maturi went back to a coach who beat the Gophers earlier this season: Northern Illinois' Jerry Kill.

Good going Joel, you just single handedly “killed” gopher football once and for all. Bruininks, you’re even a bigger idiot for entrusting this fool with such an important decision. What a legacy! Time to find something else to do with the money I’ll save by not renewing my season tickets.

It is time to eliminate the AD position and get rid of sports at the U. What a JOKE. Thanks Joker Joel for the nightmarish memories.

Solid, safe pick. Hard to criticize. The big question----does he know how to recruit big time players? Will his coordinators rotate through here like a revolving door? Can he actually game manage and not game mangle???

Umm....really? That's the best we could do? Any bets on the over-under? I'll put the line at 4 (number of years until we are doing this all over again).

So much for hiring a "name" coach! Most fans couldn't tell you he was at NIU if you asked them. I wonder if Maturi was able to finish asking him if he wanted the job before he blurted out "YES"! About as uninspiring of a hire as Maturi could make. FAIL! Another 4 years down the tubes!
