is that he would always come down and mingle with the crowd. He was never too good to come out from backstage between sets. He would get down and join a raw north-sider cipher on the floor, and then tolerate the Minnetonka wanna-bes and groupies. The kid always had a handshake or would slap five, offer a smile, saw what's up, move beyond the mean mugs and keep it generally amicable. He didn't rap about kicking your butt, packing heat, doing or selling garbage, such as drugs or other street crimes. He kept it real, had heart and his passion for what he did was contagious. Honestly, I was surprised to learn the kid was only 28; he was beyond his years, and lived a full life while he was here. God rest your soul, Eyedea. Thoughts and prayers to your friends and family. P.S. Check out the NE billboard (RIP Eyedea) by the train bridge close to Central...

It's a shame. He made good music. It's also a shame that you need to imply (through this particular article especially) that only quality music is music YOU have heard. It's sad that you are so limited.

I didn't know him, never heard of him, but clearly many did know him, love his music, feel a sense of kinship with him, and feel that he brought something good to their lives. It doesn't matter at all if I knew him. What matters is that he meant a lot to a lot of people and that he did good here. May Godspeed him to his next life, and may he make music wherever he goes.

I started listening to these guys around six years ago. I was blown away by the talent coming from our home state of Minnesota. Both groups got me through some tough times. Eyedea was nice enough to reply to my myspace messages sent to him. This is bitter and tough to swallow. RIP Micheal Eyedea Larsen.

My most sincerest condolences to Mikey (Eyedea) Larsen's family. I never got the chance to meet him but his music inspired me to be a better person. He was a very talented artist and he will always live on thru his music. To Keygrip, can you tell us more on Mikey or share a memory with us? Also, send my condolences to his mother and grandparents for thier great loss. From Cali with love, Tito
