The company produces products that would not be considered healthy by any dietitian, but the company is flourishing, which tells you that most people care more about taste than health. Yet we continue to have people like New York mayor Bloomberg institute measures to eliminate trans fats and sodium in people's diets. From the stock price of Hormel, it's clear that isn't what people want.

And don't plan to! But I do hope that they can figure out healthy food options that offer longer shelf life...

BallFour Wake up fool, Their products like anything are not a concern when used in moderation. What we don't need is government involvement in our personal lives. It is idiots like you that think you can legislate morality. Teach them the correct principles and let them govern themselves. You have to be a liberal, you know what is best for everyone, and if you don't believe it, just ask a liberal.

The product always held a place of forbidden mystery to me and my family. Then, one day, while driving Up North to a remote fishing lodge, I stopped at a grocery store and did the "forbidden". I bought a can. Upon arrival at the cabin, I took off the top of the can. I expected "pork ambrosia" I was immediatly engulfed in the aroma of long past memories of opening cans of Red Heart Dog food! I was certain it smelled the same. I was disheartened. I diced it up and used it for bait. Maybe I just need to broaden my palate.

Sure Hormel has "healthy" options. I eat Jennie-O ground turkey and turkey sausage nearly every week, and it is great! I use the ground turkey in recipes that calls for ground beef, and also delicious turkey burgers, just chop up an onion, preferably sweet vidalia or texas 1015, sprinkle in some dried cilantro, chili powder and seasoned salt, mix thoroughly, form patties and pan fry, mmmmmm delicious! Oh and if you've never tried spam or just tried out of the can only, you're missing a great breakfast meat, slice thin and panfry it, it's wonderful! Go Hormel, Go!!!! Ok, time for breakfast.

Toast two slices of English muffin toasting bread. Slice can of Spam into eight slices. Fry two slices lightly brown on both sides. Place a pineapple ring over the two side-by-side slices. Melt a slice of American cheese over the pineapple. Assemble the sandwich and enjoy. Refrigerate the other six slices of Spam.
