I made the mistake years ago of mulching the leaves from my walnut and buckeye trees. Might as well have poured Roundup on the grass. Friend of mine had the same experience with hickories. When my ash trees developed a fungus that killed about half of the green leaves each spring, I was advised to bag that area of the lawn, too. Apparently the mulched-up leaves gave the fungus a good place to survive the winter.

We have a Linden, birch, Canadian cherry, hard maple, soft maple, and 2 ashes. We mow the leaves every year and have a beautiful green lawn that we receive many compliments on.
