Jim Souhan: Gophers' progress under Brewster goes like this: Bleak, bleaker, bleakest

The Gophers played about as well as could be expected, and all that meant was that they kept the score within two touchdowns.

The fact is that a record of 15-25 simply isn't good enough !! All fans believe this !!! The university president MUST act accordingly and get the residents and fans a NEW coach who is experienced and has a positive track record. Someone who has proved himself. a retired gopher in florida

I think the ESPN announcers used that phrase a dozen times re Brewster's hope for the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, hope if not a football strategy. The Gopher program is only one coaching staff and about 22 players away from competing with the USCs of the world. The irony is that Adam Weber holds all the Gopher passing records because their past quarterbacks have been such dismal failures as well. HOW CAN HE CONTINUE TO BE CONSIDERED A BIG TEN QUARTERBACK? Anyway, a reasonable effort given the coaching staff abilities and the fact that the Minnesota recruits are physically overmatched. Bring on Northern Illiois!!!! I see a big win in the making (at least under Brewball, it will be mouthed as a big win)

A record of 15-26 simply isn't good enough. In fact, enough is enough!!! The university president MUST step in and do his job....Get us fans and residents an experienced coach who could step in and recruit and start us back on the football road to success. We used to be a proud program and can be one again. A retired gopher in florida

The mental errors the past two weeks are what drives me crazy, and are 100% coaches responsibility. 12 men of the field, 5 men in the back field, running a player into the huddle, and then have him run back to the sideline, blah, blah, blah. And what's up with the kicking game? Kickoff out of bounds, two shanked punts, kick return for a TD. It just never ends.

would want to coach at the U of M? We've all read about how tight the budget is compared to the Big 10 studs. Come on. U of M can't compete with the big boys of the big 10 if they think like a small market program. Jeesh. And you can take (that comment) to the bank!

Without Decker, Brewster's record drops to 1-8. And if it weren't for Decker, Brewster would have been swept out of town long ago.

How come Jim, Patrick and the boys never provide any actual analysis? Oh that is right, none of them can think critically or formulate any relevant ideas of their own. This lack of mental capacity reduces them to writing about the past or better yet, making things up. Brewster needs to win 7+ games to keep his job? Really? Where did this come from? There isn't one realistic observer of this team that EXPECTS a 7 win season. I have some news for you...a college football team turns over about 25% of its roster each year. What has happened in previous years has no impact on this year. Guys improve, regress, get injured, or just plain play differently. There is plenty of football left to be played and a successful season can still be had.

Just ask the chain gang crew that walks the sidelines what they think of Brew and Butler. No class. Time to go.

As a Gopher football fan you prepare yourself for disappointment, it required right after you throw on your Gopher gear. Yet even this sorry state is hard to prepare for.
