Eh...we'll see. There is always some kind of Harold Hill out there. Hopefully there won't be trouble in River City.

The only people that have this kind of sovereign wealth fund money are our oil suppliers in the Middle East, forget the others mentioned like China, Russia, Malaysia as they are not going to invest here. The target here is obviously the Mayo Clinic, as that is where they come for medical treatment. I am not sure I feel comfortable with them establishing a base of operations in Minnesota.

But down here, the companies want government money to support them. It is the defintion of irony....private companies craving government funds to establish their business.

Outside investment in our state or the city of Rochester is a remarkable thing and should be supported at any cost. Rochester is at the cusp of a major boom in my opinion and this project coupled with HSR re-routing through Rochester may fuel the fire Rochester needs.

There is so much unexploited IP floating around Mayo it would make a capitalist drool. There are hundreds of game-changing inventions that will never reach patients unless Mayo plays ball and allows them to be commercialized.

"a remarkable thing and should be supported at any cost." That's just the problem. There are a lot of good ideas out there. Should they all be supported "at any cost?" How much state money has already been spent on Elk River? (Roads, intersections, etc.) Does it make sense to have MoreU Park, University Enterprise Laboratories, the new biomedical hoo-ha a the U, without any intellectual property - ideas or companies - to back them up? As far as cracking the nut that is Mayo Clinic, good luck. They are miles ahead of the U in protecting/using intellectual property.

It's about time all the money we have been sending overseas is coming back to this country and creating some jobs. I would bet my own money the $1 Billion is coming from the Saudi's.

I am totally in he corner of the liberals on this. Corporations are truly evil and are not needed at all in Minnesota. I have asked all the liberals against big business to get together and form the "Workers Paradise Party" which will be to protest the end of all big business in Minnesota and eventually in America. According to "Workers Paradise Party" all big business is evil and does nothing for the working man at all, except give jobs, benefits, etc, etc., but most important it supplies those evil business's and CEO's with money and profits. That is the most evil of all. This business like all business needs to be taken over by the only thing we liberals trust in America - Big Gov't. We pledge our devotion and actions to creating a One World Big Gov't which will give peace, love and spread the wealth for all. Join "The Workers Paradise Party" now. All hail Big Gov't.
