They get some fame, fortune, and success and lose their sense of reality. Especially true of someone like Phoenix who is probably a pretty marginal person to begin with. Artistic success does not equate with being a grounded person who has one's act together. In fact, more often than not, these are inversely related. The celebrity lifestyle allows these people to indulge their personal shortcomings as opposed to dealing with them. Would Phoenix be doing this if he worked at Roto Rooter cleaning drains?

Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Especially true for the so called "celebrities". Go back to what you do well- acting. Michael Jordan discovered that beng Michael didnt' automatically make him good at sports other then basketball.

Given the 'uncertainty' surrounding Phoenix's mental stability is it any wonder how the Borat character can trick so many people into thinking he is legit. I don't know why I am still shocked at how gullible people are.
