This looks like the perfect topic to rally around plus the voters will love you. Get some protection for the innocent.

Amazing the government isn't on that list. privateeye - So why use a blanket statement indicating those whose money is/was garnished is 'innocent' ? Theft is theft regardless if you do it in the light of day or with a credit card or other loan that you never intend to pay.

Post the dollar amount for garnishments executed by the Government during that same time period. That's differant tho, right? Doesn't fit into the class warfare propaganda strategy does it?

but what if you don't owe the money? The collectors should be made to not only release your money but also be made to pay all your expenses. Expenses= to Attorney's Fees, Overdrafts, Time Lost to correct this and maybe even Punitive Damages.

Well, DUH... But what you dont obviously know is why. Sure, some are taking advantage of the system. It happens and they should be tracked down first. But MANY, and I mean MANY MANY have had it taken away from them. Why? I'll simply repeat myself again. Greed. The bank cons, the real estate cons, the economy crashed due to the greedy. People simply lack compassion and humanity. Look in between the lines before passing judgement, and if you havent been poor before, shut up!! You have no idea why some may be. I am not, never had been, but I understand that things happen. Why should those suffering have to suffer more because of greed in inhumanity. I am sickened by peoples interpretation of todays issues. Lets just blame the weak. 2010's motto.

Pay your bills and you won't have to worry about it. 90% of the debtors out there in collections have had the means to pay back their debt and don't / won't not can't. Collections put billions back into the economy in the last few years. Borrow money from a bank / cc company to buy your toys and you should be held responsible for paying it back. Go to the hospital or Dr. and don't think you should have to pay? Man people are crazy...

The unfortunate thing is if you lose your job, you wait three to eight weeks for unemployment.if you qualify, then your rent is late and they charge you 700.00 in court plus the rent, and the late fees and you now have no money, your phone charges you 10.00 late fee, your credit cards jack your interest and your payments. You car payment well they come get the car.. if you are late 1 day with anything it cost you an arm and leg, not to mention the bank fees for checks that overdraft and well, cannot dig yourself any deeper can you.. Businesses should not be able to take your monies without having to go to court. You should not have to take on Target or Sears or Chase or whatever trying to get enormous charges that have been put upon you...Some people owe 100.00 and it is now 600.00 cause you missed a payment or were late and cannot make up the difference so they just charge you to the point of no return.... that is wrong !!!Alot of debt would be paid if they did not tack on the 30.00 late fee, the 30.00 over the limit fee, the 25.00 late fee ETC... that to me is THEFT and they get away with it LEGALLY, with high cost to consumer to get corrected.. THAT IS THEFT.
