The calories add up. And the fat. Which means, of course, so do the miles needed to walk off the excess.

What you are saying is that the State Fair needs to expand in acerage? Kidding. I'll walk more when I get home.

Now, I am a fan of the Taste section of the paper. But I was annoyed by this story. We all know that pretty much everything at the State Fair is bad for you. It is calorie laden food...period. However, when you are told to watch your calories and what you are eating 365 days out of the year; it is extremely annoying to read this article. I don't need to be told that cheese curds have 1100+ calories and that I need to walk 11.4 miles to get rid of said curds. The purpose of the Great Minnesota Get Together is to escape the reality of having to watch what you eat...at least for one day.

You forgot to mention grams of carbohydrates, which any self-respecting diabetic needs to be able to manage a day at the Fair! Also, don't forget sno-cones and cotton candy!

How about a story on healthy choices one can make at the fair? Like a cut-up apple (hold the whipped cream and nuts)? Are all the fruit smoothies equally bad? We already KNOW cheese curds are "bad"...give us some alternatives, please.

here comes the food police. GLoom and doom on everything.

If you can't spend a day at the fair eating what you want you have bigger issues.

Go eat and be happy.

And because I know plenty of you will disagree: "Any formal attack on ignorance is bound to fail because the masses are always ready to defend their most precious possession - their ignorance. " — Hendrick Van Loon

......of guilt to go along with that load of cheese curds, mini-doughnuts and corndogs please. How about deep fried styrofoam on a stick? Would that make you happy? Buzz kill.

but we don't care! People go to the fair not eat healthy or anything, they go because they enjoy something there.
